Alkhas Agrba, from Gaudauta (region in Abkhazia), schizophrenia. Mental Hospital in Dranda, populated by 70-80 people (depends on a season). Half of the patients in the hospital are men and half are women. Illnesses are common for a such place: schizophrenia, post-traumatic syndrome, different neuroses and 8 man of diminished responsibility were moved from prison. The worst is that some of them have HIV, tuberculosis, hepatitis. Dranda is About 30km from Sukhumi, capital of Georgian breakaway region of Abkhazia.

This is what happens to an animal when the company uses animals to test its product. Some of these companies are L’Oreal (Lancome, Maybelline), Johnson & Johnson (and their brands such as Carefree, K.Y), Clairol, Clearasil, Estee Lauder, Gilette (Proctor & Gamble), Herbal Essences, Listerine, Nair, Olay, Oral B, Palmolive and many, many more.

I used the least triggering image I could find (and will update with a source when I find it) - things can get much worse for the animals than this. Here is a list of companies that do not test on animals. I tend to just avoid most of the big companies like Proctor & Gamble and Unilever anyway. There are a lot of local, vegan companies that need our support.

Jeffrey and Tyler went to great trouble and some risk to get as close as they could to the calamity in Somalia. They sent us a harrowing story and vivid, arresting photographs. We put them before the attention of our readers. That’s our job.
